2005 | Foundation of UTSEUS

· UTSEUS was officially co-founded by Shanghai University and the Group of French Universities of Technology (UTs).

· It became the first educational cooperation program between China and a European Union country.

2006–2010 | System Building and First Cohorts

· Introduced the French engineering education model based on a Preparatory Cycle + Engineer Cycle structure.

· Established a French/bilingual teaching environment in Shanghai.

· Focused the first three years on intensive French language training and foundational scientific courses.

· Sent selected high-performing students to continue the two-year engineering cycle at UTC, UTT, and UTBM.

· Built a joint Sino-French teaching team through progressive faculty development.

2011–2015 | Expansion and Localization

· Increased student enrollment and expanded the school’s operational scale.

· Strengthened cooperation with French companies in China and local enterprises.

· Developed internship bases to reinforce industry-academia integration.

· Adapted the engineering training model to better match China’s industrial needs.

· Launched joint research projects between Chinese and French faculty.

2016–2020 | Quality Growth and Recognition

· Achieved strong social recognition for the quality of its talent cultivation.

· Maintained consistently high graduate employment rates.

· Developed recognized strengths in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, and Information Engineering.

· Expanded Sino-French cultural exchange through events such as Sino-French Technology Week and academic lectures.

2021–2024 | Innovation and Integrated Development

· Completed a localized training system integrating bachelor’s and master’s education.

· Expanded from three undergraduate majors to postgraduate education.

· Launched the Master’s program in Electronic Information (Cyber-Physical Systems).

· Further internationalized the faculty, with core teachers holding French engineering degrees and PhDs.

· Strengthened teaching capacity in both English and French.

· Enhanced research and innovation capabilities.

2025 | 20th Anniversary

· Held the 20th Anniversary Theme Conference on November 8.

· Celebrated under the theme: “Twenty Years of Craftsmanship: Integrating China and Europe, Igniting the Future with Intelligence.”

· Marked the milestone of more than 3,000 graduates trained since 2005.

· Highlighted alumni contributions in high-end manufacturing, energy management, and digital technology.

· Confirmed UTSEUS as a model of Sino-French higher education cooperation.

· Continued its mission of advancing educational collaboration and cultural exchange between China and France.
